Museum of Lingua

Opened in 2000, the Museum of Lingua is dedicated to the history, customs, and traditions to life on the island of Salina. Two plans to make a kind of virtual journey to discover the crafts of the past, mainly agricultural. On display are a human oil mill, oil presses and a mill for wheat. Below is a collection of everyday objects measures to control the amount of products with goat leather shoes, fishing gear to furnishings. In a room on the ground floor is rebuilt the interior of a typical Aeolian house. The first floor is reserved for the hand history of the island from volcanic eruptions archaeological sites to work in Salina.

The house of Pablo

At the end of living of Pollara, beyond the church, there is a rustic and isolated house that a few years has become a pilgrimage site. These few rooms at the top of steep cliffs in fact have to set to "the Postman". Unique location of aeolian film, shot entirely for the rest of Procida, the home of poet Pablo Neruda overlooking the bay of Pollara, today cinephiles tourists stand in line for rent for a few weeks.


Library Art Gallery

The Municipal Library of Malfa and audiovisual library owns capital which has about 10,000. Capers and Cucunci

The caper plant generally grows wild on the lava of the smaller islands of Sicily. In Salina these vegetables are grown delicate. The capers are not the fruit of the plant but the buds not yet opened its flowers. Hand-picked and preserved in salt before being used must be immersed in water for some time to lose their excess salt and to recover aroma and taste. A two qualities are cultivated Salina capers, Nocellara and Nocella, who does not soften too after curing should be done strictly with sea salt. Excellent also the fruit of the caper plant, the so-called "cucunci", which have the form of small pickled cucumbers and are very good. The Aeolian Islands are often served as an appetizer.
